They had transitioned from manual espresso machines to automated machines and were trying to maintain their position as leaders in the hand crafted beverage sector. One thing we believed set Starbucks apart from the competition was their baristas hand written drink signatures. Baristas with their Sharpies in hand, make a real human connection between the brand and it’s customers.
